Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice program is an overview of the criminal justice system and the careers available in this growing employment field. Learning opportunities include field trips to criminal justice and public service facilities, interaction with guest speakers from law enforcement, the courts, and potential YMCA Mock Trial competitions. Students receive training on critical analysis, problem solving, constitutional rights, the legal system, juvenile justice, investigative procedures and motor vehicle and building searches.

One year; 3 period class, 1.5 credits per semester. Monday through Friday: 12:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Credits: Social Studies Elective (up to 1.0), CWP/Civics (up to 1.0), English/Language Arts (up to 1.0) and/or Occupational Credits

Open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12.    

Program Highlights:

  • Students will interact with professionals from all over the county involved in criminal justice careers.
  • Students may earn college credit (with a grade of ''B'' or better).
